What Are You?¶
You were Embraced because something about you was exquisite. Perhaps it was talent; a voice, a brush, a stage presence that turned all eyes upon you. Perhaps it was just raw beauty — the kind that stops traffic and starts wars. The Toreador define "art" quite broadly. Painters and musicians, yes, but also dancers, potters, writers, cobblers, podcasters, designers, sex workers, filmmakers, social architects, and anyone who makes people feel something. Your sire saw you create or embody a moment of genuine beauty and thought it deserved to last forever. Sometimes that decision is carefully considered, sometimes it's an impulse they regret by next Tuesday.
The Clan of the Rose dominates nightlife, cultural scenes, festivals, galas, art galleries, and social networks. You know everyone worth knowing, you control who gets attention and who doesn't, and your ability to read and manipulate emotions is literally supernatural. Other Kindred underestimate you as shallow hedonists and decorative socialites, which is a mistake they tend to make exactly once. Beauty is power, desire is leverage, and a Toreador who wants something from you will make you want to give it willingly.
The cost is the obsession. Your blood craves beauty so intensely that ugliness physically diminishes you. Dull surroundings dull your abilities. Worse, when something truly gorgeous catches your attention, you can lose yourself in it completely. A perfect song, a stunning face, moonlight dancing across water; any of these can lock you in place, entranced and oblivious, until the moment passes or someone snaps you out of it. The same sensitivity that makes you extraordinary also makes you vulnerable in ways no other Clan has to worry about. But... c'mon, just look at it!

Bane: Adversarial Aesthetics¶
When your surroundings are aesthetically hostile (filthy, institutional, aggressively bland), you have an Ongoing penalty equal to your Blood Potency (minimum 1) to all Resolve and Discipline rolls. The Storyteller makes this call based on your character's personal aesthetic preferences.
Compulsion: Obsession¶
When something of extraordinary beauty captures your attention (a person, a performance, a piece of art, even a perfectly executed act of violence), you become consumed by it and cannot focus on anything else.
Until you can no longer perceive the object of your fixation or the scene ends, take an Ongoing penalty equal to your Blood Potency (minimum 1) to all rolls not directly related to studying, appreciating, protecting, imitating, or possessing it. If spoken to, you can only talk about your fixation. If someone attempts to redirect your attention, you must Stay Chill or become completely entranced. While entranced, you cannot voluntarily look away, move, or take action unrelated to the object of your fixation. Another character can snap you out of it with a firm physical interruption or by removing the fixation (or you).
Clan Perks¶
You get 2 unique abilities:
Center of Gravity: When you are the focus of attention in a social scene, all non-Coterie characters except Elder Kindred present take -1 Ongoing to notice anything that isn't you. You don't need to roll to hold a room; you simply command it. This effect lasts as long as you're actively engaging the crowd and ends the moment you stop performing, conversing, or otherwise captivating your audience.
Muse's Gift: Once per session, you can spend a quiet moment with a willing character (Coterie or NPC) and inspire them. Describe what you do: sing for them, sketch them, tell them something they needed to hear, hold their hand in silent support, or whatever else they might need. They gain Advantage on the next roll they make that aligns with the emotional tone of your inspiration. If the target was a Coterie member and the roll succeeds, you both gain +1 XP.
Clan Experience¶
Once each per session, gain +1 XP when you...
- Create, perform, or curate something beautiful that meaningfully affects a scene or character
- Leverage your social influence to open a door for your Coterie that force or stealth couldn't
- Sacrifice something you find beautiful (an object, a relationship, an opportunity) for the Coterie's benefit
